After working in jobs she had little interest in for many years, Jade, aged 30, decided to return to College to pursue something she was truly passionate about.

We caught up with Jade to find out how she’s found coming back to College and what she has planned for the future.

“To anyone thinking about making a career change I would say just go for it – now I’ve made the move, I wish I’d have come back to college sooner.”

Jade Walton, Level 2 in Hairdressing

Jade says: “When I was approaching 30 I’d reached a turning point where I needed to do something that I enjoyed, I also wanted to do it for my eight-year-old son – to make him proud. I studied hairdressing at College years ago but didn’t finish, and I decided to come back to it as I felt fed up with being in jobs that I wasn’t interested in; working in retail and in pubs.

“I’ve really enjoyed the course; particularly getting to learn new skills and I’ve felt supported throughout.

“After Level 2 Hairdressing I’m going to study barbering, then do my Level 3 for both and then I plan to work in a salon.
