Whether you are interested in Sports Therapy and Coaching, Sport and Outdoor Adventurous Activities or Fitness Instructing and Personal Training, we will provide you with the best learning experience and industry-relevant qualifications to unlock your potential and succeed in your chosen career.

Studying with us will provide opportunities for you to learn and train within state-of-the-art sports facilities including a fully equipped commercial sports centre, fitness suite, a full-size football pitch, two astro turf pitches and a sports therapy clinic. We are currently developing an Exercise Science Laboratory and high quality outdoor recreational activities set within the college’s 42 acres.

You will also have access to the nearby Manvers boathouse and lake with access to canoeing, open-water swimming, mountain biking, orienteering, windsurfing, sailing and raft building.

As a Sports student, you will be able to join our Dearne Valley Sports Academies and take part in local, regional and national leagues, in additional to Dragon Boat racing and Water Sports Academy at Manvers Lake and Boat House.

You will also be able to take part in a range of residential and expeditions, educational visits and events.

We offer a range of courses, so you can progress from entry level right up to degree level. You’ll gain sought- after skills including sport, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, fitness testing, leadership and much more.

Our expert tutors bring with them real-world experience and passion to their teaching, so what you learn with us is what you’ll use in the world of work. You’ll also have access to cutting edge equipment including our sports GPS system, timing gates and Hi Cam Telescopic Mast Filming System, for measuring fitness and performance.

Sports Coach

Average salary - £26,200*

Sports Coaches teach sports skills to individuals and teams of all abilities to enhance performance.

Day-to-day tasks:

Planning and delivering activity sessions, giving feedback on performance to help improve technique and supporting performers at events and competitions.**

Working environments:

Fitness centres, sports fields, schools, colleges or at universities.

Leisure Manager

Average salary - £31,700*

Leisure Managers organise and coordinate activities and resources required and look after the running of sport and leisure venues.

Day-to-day tasks:

Arranging leisure activities, organising and promoting events, scheduling and managing staff, controlling budgets and monitoring performance targets for the venue and following health and safety regulations.**

Working environments:

Within a sport, fitness or leisure centre.
