Rotherham College Dearne Valley College

Specialise in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy, develop your skills and be taught by our industry-experienced teaching team. Gain skills of both practical application of techniques and knowledge of treatments and clients. You may also have the opportunity to study additional qualifications and participate in skills week activities to gain additional specialist skills and certificates.

Fit training around any existing commitments with theory work that can be completed remotely and extended evening and weekend opening times for practical training and assessments.

We have state-of-the-art facilities including our commercial, on-site training salon, Aspirations. We work in partnership with industry professionals including Salon Services, Ellisons, Sally’s and local salons, and with brands such as Dermalogica, St. Tropez, Steiner, Caflon and OPI. You will participate in industry competitions such as World Skills UK and take part in regular work placements with local businesses.

We offer hair and beauty training to school leavers and those aged 19 or over. With a wide range of course levels available we can cater to all abilities. Our courses are in a range of areas. Hair Salon Manager

Average salary - £21,100*

Hair Salon Managers organise and coordinate resources of hair salons.

Day-to-day tasks:

Recruit and organise staffing, order stock and promote products to customers, discuss client requests, suggest style ideas, cut, colour and style hair and keep up to date with new trends, techniques and hair products.**

Working environments:

Salons, health spas, on a cruise ship or in a hotel setting.

Beauty Therapist

Average salary - £18,500*

Beauty Therapists provide face and body treatments to clients.

Day-to-day tasks:

Give clients facials, apply and advise on make-up, shape eyebrows, give manicures, pedicures and nail treatments, hair removal and tanning.**
