Computer Games Developer

Average salary - £25,000 to £70,000*

Computer game developers create video games for phones, tablets, PCs and consoles.

Day to day tasks:

Work in a team of designers deciding what a game will look like and how it can be played, develop your own ideas or work from an existing idea, create storyboards at the planning stage, create code to programme the game and test and debug code, use computer modelling and animation software to make characters and scenes and add sound effects.*

Working environments:

You could work in a creative studio or in an office.*

App Developer

Average salary - £25,000 to £55,000*

App developers design and build mobile applications for PCs, mobile phones and tablets.

Day to day tasks:

Develop new apps or create ‘mobile-friendly’ versions of websites, work with other developers, designers and copywriters, design prototypes to suit client needs, write or amend computer code, test software, find faults and fix problems keep accurate notes about the development process. *

Working environments:

You could work in an office or at a client’s business.*
