Featuring Futures at Dearne Valley College Taster Day

30 August 2019

Dearne Valley College has hosted a variety of interactive activities for visiting Netherwood Academy students to have fun with and find out more about what they would enjoy doing as their next step in education.

The visiting Year 10 students were first shown a presentation detailing all the fantastic opportunities on their doorstep at Dearne Valley College. This was followed by the visiting students breaking off into groups which visited the several subject areas hosting exciting activities for them to get involved in.

Examples include nail beauty preparation for beauty therapy, plastering attempts in construction, engine inspections in motor vehicle and making a wooden toy car in joinery.

Margaret Bird, Careers Leader at Netherwood Academy, supervised the visiting students.

Margaret said: “This is really useful for them because this is the time our students can make decisions about their future. They get to find out about the college and see if they want to come study here.

“I think that Dearne Valley College is really nice and friendly.”
