Coronavirus Update

Our Advice for Applicants

12 June 2020

Don’t panic – we have a place for you.

Our staff are working hard to support all new students with their next steps. We are looking forward to welcoming you in September but are mindful that Government guidance may change.  We will continue to keep prospective students updated with the latest developments so that the transition to college is as smooth as possible.

What if I haven’t yet applied for College?

If you’re interested in studying with us from September, take a look at our virtual open events that are coming soon, where you can to get to know our tutors, find out more about the college and the courses available. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for details.

You can apply for one of our courses by visiting the ‘apply now’ section of our website. If you aren’t sure what you would like to study, please contact our Learner Recruitment team:

Or you can direct message us on our social media channels and we will be happy to talk you through the different options.

I’ve applied online, what happens next?

If you have applied for a course this September, you will be contacted to confirm your place, subject to entry requirements.

Planned face-to-face interviews with applicants will now be completed by telephone.  One of our specialist course tutors will contact you to discuss your application and give you more information about the course.  We aim to do this within four weeks of applying, however due to the volume of applications and the impact of Coronavirus on staffing resources, there may be a delay in contacting you.  This will not affect your chances of joining us.

I have had my interview, what happens next?

Once you have had your interview and accepted your place, we will maintain contact using the details provided and keep you up to date on the latest developments. If you have not yet accepted your place, please email our Learner Recruitment Team (email above).

Over the Summer, you will be sent a pre-induction task for your chosen course which will need completing prior to joining us. This is to ensure that you aren’t disadvantaged by the current situation and that we can support you to continue your studies with us through online learning.

You will also be sent details of our virtual open events which will take place at the end of August.  At enrolment, you will be asked to share your GCSE results with us.  Don’t worry if you don’t get the results you need as we will make sure you’re on the right course for you.

When will I start college?

Our intentions are for new students to start with us week commencing 7th September.  Over the past few months, our students and tutors have successfully engaged with a remote way of learning and it is anticipated we would continue to do this from September.  This would mean that you wouldn’t attend college every day and your tutors will provide learning activities, tasks and deadlines for you to complete at home.

If any of these plans change because of Coronavirus, we will contact you.
