Students Race to Victory in Williams Racing F1 Esports Finals!

A team of our talented students has raced their way to victory in the Student Racing League Split 2 Finals, an esports competition created and facilitated by the renowned Williams Racing Formula 1 team!  

The dedicated staff and students travelled down to the Williams Racing Experience Centre, a thrilling hub of motorsport innovation, to compete against teams from nine other colleges and schools from across the UK. 

The atmosphere was electric as the racers Henry, Wayne and Sam, put their virtual driving skills to the test. After a series of intense and closely fought races, our students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, strategic prowess, and impressive driving ability.

Their consistent performance throughout the competition culminated in a triumphant victory, securing first place with a remarkable total of 157 points! 

Speaking to Henry about his and the teams experience down at the competition; these are some quotes about how he found the day:

‘A challenge we had to overcome was not getting to emotional, not feeling down about ourselves. We knew we could still win so we just had to pick ourselves up and Wayne did a great job with that to me and Sam’  

‘When we heard them announce the winner we felt relief. On the way back home, it was mainly us trying to process the achievement, the dedication and work we’ve all put into this, its shows you can do it if you put the effort in’  

‘My first bit of advice is everyone is good enough. Put the effort in, put the work in, that includes at college with your college work, and also with the practice you do with your teammates. But mainly enjoy it!’ 

The hard-fought win earned the College team a coveted trophy, a symbol of their dedication and skill in the competitive world of esports.
