This 15-credit Level 4 HN Flex unit develops the knowledge and practice needed to safeguard children and maintain safe early education and care environments.
You will interpret theories of play, compare play in different early years contexts, examine the role of observation, and complete and interpret observations of children’s self-chosen play.
Strengthen practical observation and planning skills while applying established and contemporary play theory to real early years practice.
Applicants normally need a relevant Level 3 qualification, Access to HE Diploma, A Levels, or appropriate industry experience. Entry and prior technical knowledge are discussed at interview.
Successful completion provides 15 Level 4 credits and a Pearson Certificate of Unit Credit. The learning supports progression to further HN Flex units or a relevant Higher National qualification through recognition of prior learning or top-up, subject to Pearson rules and college approval.
