This 15-credit Level 4 HN Flex unit develops the knowledge and practice needed to safeguard children and maintain safe early education and care environments.
You will examine safeguarding legislation and guidance, practitioner and organisational responsibilities, multi-agency working, health and safety, and the implementation and review of safeguarding policies.
Develop current safeguarding knowledge and leadership practice through workplace-focused learning. This mandatory unit is also a prerequisite for all Level 5 units in the qualification.
Applicants normally need a relevant Level 3 qualification, Access to HE Diploma, A Levels, or appropriate industry experience. Entry and prior technical knowledge are discussed at interview.
Successful completion provides 15 Level 4 credits and a Pearson Certificate of Unit Credit. The learning supports progression to further HN Flex units or a relevant Higher National qualification through recognition of prior learning or top-up, subject to Pearson rules and college approval.
