The Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming is designed to equip learners with the advanced skills and in-depth understanding necessary to excel in the diverse and demanding world of professional dog grooming. It goes beyond basic grooming techniques, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and a commitment to lifelong learning within the evolving landscape of canine care.
The Level 3 qualification will enable you to be a fully qualified dog groomer.
The curriculum will encompass a range of interconnected units, including:

Canine Anatomy and Physiology: In-depth study of canine skeletal structure, muscular system, skin and coat, and internal organs to understand the impact of grooming practices on dog health.

Canine Behaviour and Welfare: Understanding canine communication, recognising signs of stress and anxiety, and implementing positive handling techniques to ensure a safe and comfortable grooming experience.

Breed-Specific Grooming: Mastering the techniques and styles associated with various dog breeds, including hand stripping, clipping, and scissoring.

Advanced Grooming Techniques: Developing expertise in specialised grooming skills, such as creative grooming, colour enhancement (where appropriate and ethically sound), and dealing with challenging coat conditions.

Health and Safety in the Grooming Salon: Understanding and adhering to strict hygiene protocols, preventing cross-contamination, and ensuring a safe working environment for both groomers and dogs.

Client Consultation and Communication: Developing effective communication strategies to understand client requirements, assess dog needs, and provide professional advice.

- 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above to include English and Maths or
- Level 1 Vocational Qualification plus English and Maths at Functional Skills Level 1 or
- Must hold a level 2 City and Guilds dog grooming assistant.
