National Careers Week 2025 at Dearne Valley College
The transition from textbooks to pay checks can feel daunting, but here at Dearne Valley College we are bridging that gap by celebrating National Careers Week.
From March 4th to March 7th the campus transformed into a hub of professional exploration, offering students a unique opportunity to engage with industry experts across diverse fields.Â
It was a dynamic week filled with stalls, insightful talks, and workshops all designed to empower students with the knowledge they need to navigate their future careers.
The aim was to demystify the world of work, fostering valuable networking opportunities and providing a clearer understanding of the exciting possibilities that lie beyond college education.Â
We were privileged to welcome industry experts from across multiple sectors. Students gained firsthand knowledge of the rewarding field of Social Care through CRT Care Services, and experienced the passion of Animal Care with a captivating presentation from Paws for a break. For aspiring healthcare professionals, Align Therapy provided valuable insights into physiotherapy through an engaging stall and informative talk.
And for those with a passion for football, our on-site partner, Momentous Football Academy, delivered expert advice and guidance, highlighting pathways within the competitive world of the sport. For students interested in the world of tech we had Iprosurv who shared their expertise and inspired the next generation of drone innovators! This is just a brief snapshot of the companies that contributed to our careers event.Â
These informative sessions offered students invaluable insights into a wide array of career paths, interview advice and guidance and the opportunity to engage with various professionals at the forefront of their fields.
Beyond traditional career paths, this event also highlighted the importance of apprenticeships, with a stall and talks from MEARS revealing valuable insights into the diverse and practical routes to career success. We also held Degree Apprenticeships talk’s online from professional speakers such as Rosie Smith who is an Apprentice Paint Technician at Steer Automotive and she has won multiple awards for her skills.
Our students also had the opportunity to explore higher education with stalls from Derby University and University Centre Rotherham for advice and guidance on furthering their academic journeys.
This impressive lineup provided our students with direct access to information, advice and networking opportunities, solidifying Careers Week as a pivotal event in their professional development.
