Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship

What made you choose this apprenticeship rather than other study/career routes?

‘I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted to earn while I learned, rather than continue in full-time education. I originally applied for a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship elsewhere, but I was later contacted by a member of the RNN Group apprenticeships team and put forward for an interview at Dearne Valley College, where I was offered the role. The opportunity to gain practical experience alongside my studies made this apprenticeship the right choice for me.’

What was your first impression of your apprenticeship program when you first started?

‘My first impression was positive and welcoming. The role and expectations were clearly explained, and I felt supported by both my workplace and my apprenticeship tutor from the start.’

Do you feel that the College fully supported and guided you through your apprenticeship?

‘Yes, I felt fully supported by the College throughout my apprenticeship. I was given designated time during working hours to complete apprenticeship work. I also felt well supported by my apprenticeship tutor, who is approachable and available via email and in person, regularly checking in and offering guidance when needed.’

How was the apprenticeship delivered, and was it flexible to your needs?

‘The apprenticeship is delivered through monthly tutor sessions, held either face-to-face at the University Centre Rotherham campus or online, followed by set assessments. The small group size made sessions more personal and flexible.’

How do you find the balance between working on-the-job and completing your off-the-job training?

‘The balance was manageable with good organisation. Clear deadlines and support from my team helped me manage both work responsibilities and off-the-job training.’

What do you feel has been your biggest achievement whilst on the apprenticeship?

‘My biggest achievement has been developing confidence while working in a professional environment for the first time. The apprenticeship has given me valuable business knowledge and allowed me to apply this within a professional workplace.’

What kind of support did you receive from your mentor or training provider?

‘I received regular one-to-one support from my apprenticeship tutor to ensure I was on track with my apprenticeship; I could contact her by email whenever I needed support, and she was always available to provide guidance and help with any issues.’

What part of the apprenticeship have you enjoyed the most?

‘I have enjoyed stepping into a professional working environment for the first time. I have also valued the opportunity to learn and gain a qualification alongside working.

What knowledge, skills and behaviours did you develop both in the workplace and in college as part of your apprenticeship?

‘I have developed strong communication, organisation, customer service, and time management skills, along with professional workplace behaviours.’

What advice would you give to future apprentices coming onto the programme?

‘Stay organised, ask questions, and use the support available to you. Managing your time well is key.’

Now that you are nearing the end of your apprenticeship, what are your next steps?

‘My next steps are to complete my End Point Assessment and continue in my role as a Learner Recruitment and Reception Officer at Dearne Valley College.’

Is there anything you would like to add about your experience or time with us?

‘The College provides a well-structured apprenticeship programme that supports their learners well. The training delivery and organisation helped me gain relevant skills and prepare for my role in a professional environment.’
