Message for New and Returning Higher Education Students for September 2020

20 July 2020

Higher Education provision for all our new and returning students at Dearne Valley College, Rotherham College, North Notts College and University Centre Rotherham (UCR) will commence in September 2020.

We will re-open our campuses and follow the Office for Students regulations and government advice relating to Covid-19. The safety of all students and staff will be the key priority at all times.

We understand how much you value face-face contact with your tutor. Therefore, we will have a blended teaching and learning approach to the delivery of all our HE courses, with a mixture of face-to-face and remote teaching, as well as on-line learning and independent study. Face-to-face activities will include small-group teaching, seminars, workshops and practical sessions to be delivered on campus, with social distancing measures in place, to ensure we maintain a safe learning environment. You will also be provided with safe access to specialist learning facilities, where these are required to enhance your studies, such as IT suites, studios and workshops.

All timetables will incorporate the blended delivery approach described above, while adhering to government advice, in terms of social distancing and limiting the number of students on campus at any one time. You will be able to access an array of high-quality online learning materials, as well as remote teaching, through our virtual learning platforms. The virtual learning environment will give you access to your tutors when you are not on campus, so you will continue to receive the high levels of teaching and support that we expect and provide for our students.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming back all our students in the new academic year, which will be full of new opportunities, along with an exciting approach to teaching and learning.
