HNC/HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

These courses are designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of the electrical and electronic technologies which are used by businesses nationally and globally. 

By studying the theory behind these technologies, you will develop knowledge of how electrical and electronic engineering systems feature in everyday life.

This course provides advanced technical knowledge through electrical and electronic engineering principles, concepts and theory. 

This course also provides the higher-level technical vocational electrical and electronic engineering skills to prepare you for a range of related occupations. The HNC course is offered on a part-time basis over 3 semesters (18 months) and can be topped up to an HND qualification with further study.

Mechanical Engineer

Average salary - £42,000*

Mechanical Engineers develop and design the components and machinery used in manufacturing, construction and other industries.

Day-to-day tasks:

Turn research ideas into technical plans using computer aided design/modelling (CAD/CAM), research and assess new products and innovations, present design plans and data, oversee maintenance programmes and quality control and manage technicians.**

Working environments:

Client’s business sites, in an office or a factory setting.

Design and Development Engineer

Average salary - £43,600*

Design Engineers improve product performance and efficiency while researching and developing new manufacturing ideas and systems

Day-to-day tasks:

Research new developments, design plans for prototypes, use computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-assisted engineering (CAE) software, collect and analyse data from prototype testing, modify product designs ahead of manufacture and write and present reports.**

Working environments:

Office settings and workshops.
