The Foundation Diploma in Art and Design will challenge you to push your creative boundaries and develop your creativity. With a focus on problem-solving, idea generation and critical thinking; you’ll be asked to put aside your preconceptions and take risks outside your comfort zone.
Drawing will underpin your studies as you gain a valuable introduction to a wide range of creative disciplines, allowing you to experiment before specialising in your chosen area. As the course progresses you will focus on developing specialist skills to apply to your chosen creative-based higher education course. This course is free to those under 19 and provides excellent preparation to study at degree level with portfolio building and specialist guidance in applying to study at HE level.
On completion you will gain the following UCAS Tariff points: 80 for a pass, 96 for a Merit and 112 for a Distinction.
The course is in three parts: Part one allows you to explore your creative thinking through introductions to the main areas of art and design including fine art, graphic design/illustration, animation, fashion and textiles and 3D design. Part two builds on the skills and understanding of the first part, allowing you to develop further your subject related skills. Part three allows you to become more independent as you plan and implement your own major project in preparation for study at degree level.
2 AS levels at grade C or above to include a creative subject. English and Maths GCSEs at grades 4 and above. A Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design.

Product Designers create designs for new products and improve existing ones.
