This programme focuses on a flexible structure that provides a variety of opportunities for you to develop knowledge skills and behaviours transferrable within the Construction and Building Trades, (Plastering, Joinery and Bricklaying).These transferrable sector related skills are essential for progression at Level 1 in the preferred specialist trade (for example Level 1 Bricklaying).
You will study a range of topics including:

The structure of the programme focuses on developing knowledge of the bricklaying, plastering and site carpentry trades and provides you with the opportunity to make informed decisions about your progression in further education and employment.The units have been designed explicitly to meet your learning needs in terms of content, assessment and progression.Work experience will develop knowledge gaps of working as a team. Independent thinking, reflective practice, communication, customer care, problem solving and organisation skills will be provided.Enrichment activities are planned to provide a holistic approach to ensuring you have the opportunity for personal and professional development.There is a variety of competitions to get involved with including the Skills Show at NEC Birmingham, World Build Skills Competition and Inter- College Competitions.

Mark out and dig trenches for foundations and drains, lay concrete and put up panels to hold concrete in place as it sets, bend and fix bars to reinforce concrete structures and keep tradespeople on site supplied with materials.**

Construction Managers oversee building projects for quality, safety, timeliness and completion within budget.
Review building plans, hire staff and organise work schedules, ensure the site has the material its needs, monitor the timeline and cost of the project, ensure quality and health and safety is maintained throughout and report progress to clients.**
