Music Performance and Production covers many aspects of the music and entertainment industry.
Budding artists will develop skills to write songs and perform to a live audience, work with producers in pro level studios and learn to release music on online platforms.
Composers will develop skills to create original music using traditional and contemporary methods in studio productions, ensemble sessions and music for media, film and game scores.
Producers and technologists will sequence, sample and create beats and loops, manipulate sound and learn to mix and master music of all types.
Sound technicians will work in professional level theatre spaces and venues to set up staging and equipment, work with lighting and stage design and learn to control and mix live sound for bands and artists.
Popular music, history, culture and society will be explored to give insight and understanding of the music industry and the ever-evolving music and entertainment business world to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress, get employment and succeed at the highest level.
All aspects of our courses – awarded by UAL – are assessed by ongoing course work and practical demonstration.
We offer courses at various levels depending on experience, achievements and ability ranging from introductory courses at Level 1 to Level 3 (3 x A Level equivalent) as well as higher education BA (hons) degree.The level 3 Music Performance and Production course provides a dedicated pathway for performers and technologists, however all students at all levels will experience practical, performance, technology and industry content.
At Rotherham College we have industry standard equipment in all our rehearsal and recording spaces. Pro music production software in studio spaces and all our digital audio workspaces. You will be working in professional level performance and recording spaces with professionals in their field. All our staff are highly accomplished professional musicians experienced and active in the music industry.
