At Dearne valley college you will have the opportunity to start your learning at a level 1 with the full diploma in hair and beauty providing a solid foundation to progress to future programmes within the industry.
Should your chosen pathway be hairdressing you will have the opportunity to transfer to the Rotherham town centre campus at level 2 and level 3. If complimentary therapies and spa are your chosen career pathways then you will continue your journey at Dearne valley college progressing onto the L2 Diploma in Complimentary Therapies and either choose from a L3 Diploma in Complimentary Therapies or a level 3 Diploma in Body and Spa Therapy.
You will work on essential knowledge skills and behaviours to enable you to develop as an independent learner and demonstrate the skills required for the holistic and spa industry.
You will also benefit from high quality work placement and access to guest speakers and enrichment activities to help bring learning to life. All sessions have an element of practical based learning, theory taught units, independent study and tutorial and will be taught in a state-of-the-art salon with up to date equipment and taught by industry specialists.
In addition to developing Knowledge skills and behaviours you will also learn good client care and how to conduct yourself confidently using communication skills and interview skills.

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths. There is also the opportunity to study for English and Maths qualifications if you do not already hold them at the required level

You will study GCSE maths and English as part of your programme of study if you haven’t achieved a grade 4 or above and you are aged 16-18. You will also be required to purchase a uniform and kit as part of your programme further details can be obtained at interview.
