UCAS & Study Skills

We aim to help those who are looking to apply for and study on University-level courses, to have a smooth transition into Higher Education.

Study Skills Support
To help students make the transition from Level 3 or equivalent courses to Higher Education, the College offers support with the vital, academic study skills and independent learning qualities needed to successfully complete assignments and research projects. You can take advantage of one-to-one sessions as well as regular classes and workshops throughout the academic year.

Some of the skills covered include:
• Effective note-taking techniques
• Conducting a piece of research
• Planning an assignments
• Managing your workload
• Revising for an exam

UCAS Support
Progress Coaches can work with you to determine a suitable higher level or university level course for you, be it a Higher National Certificate or Diploma, Foundation Degree, a full Degree or beyond, and support to apply for these courses! You can access:

• Support with choosing the right higher level or university level course
• Advice on studying abroad
• Support with and Proofreading your UCAS application form
• Support with and Proofreading your Personal Statement
• Student with Student Finance
• Guest speakers from Universities, Student Finance and UCAS
• Visits to UCAS Conventions
• Support for students applying for Disabled Students Allowance
