An ex-student of Dearne Valley College (DVC) is giving something back by helping current college students.

Dearne Valley College (DVC) has teamed up with Chris Wright, Director of local IT business; IT Desk (UK) Limited based in Rotherham to offer its current Computing and

ICT students help with their coursework and offer valuable industry work experience placements to compliment their studies.

Chris set up the business after completing his HND in Computing in 2007 at the Wath based college. IT Desk (UK) is a limited company and has already made excellent progress as a business.

IT Desk (UK) Limited is a remote IT department able to provide the following services: Server Supply, Configuration and Maintenance, Network Installation, Configuration, Maintenance and Support, Robust Security and Back-up Solutions, Bespoke Website Design, IT Relocation Services and Bespoke Software Solutions.

Chris Wright, Director commented:

“The students get work experience in an industry they are studying. It will help them appreciate how the theory they are learning applies to real-life scenarios”.

Jon Barker, Chris’ former lecturer commented:

“It’s wonderful to see a former student making a success of their new business. What is amazing is that Chris is able to give something back to the college at such an early stage in his own career. This scheme is a great opportunity for our students because they get to work with a local business".

Dearne Valley College are now accepting applications for many vocational courses starting September 2011.
