Dearne Valley College (DVC) is encouraging youngsters to have a go at something new.

Taking place on Wednesday 6th, Thursday 7th and Monday 11th June, the Wath-based College is hosting hands-on, interactive, free taster sessions to give local young people a chance to build skills for their future.

Local 15-18 year olds, unsure what to do after taking exams this summer and looking at various options will sample a taste of college life through activity sessions and workshops that could turn into a passion or even a career.

Many vocational course areas are on offer including: Public Services, Sport and Physical Recreation, Childcare, Catering and Hospitality, Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, Health and Social Care and Construction Skills.

The DVC Sports Academy Football trails will also take place during the week.

Mark Hepworth, Customer Service and Admissions Manager commented:
“Deciding what to do next and indeed where to continue further study can be a difficult decision. Our taster sessions aim to give prospective students an insight into what college life would be like”.

Participants will meet tutors and support staff, speak to current full-time students and apply on the day for full-time courses starting September 2012.

To check availability and book a place on a taster session call 01709 513333.
