Students raise cash for kids hospice

Date: 20/12/2011

Students from the Wath-based College asked staff and fellow students to dig deep for the Sheffield hospice.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice offers care and support to children and young adults with a shortened life expectancy, both in their own homes and at the hospice in Sheffield. Bluebell Wood is a place filled with laughter and love. They give families the chance to relax, take a break and have fun, whilst supporting the whole family.

The students studying Childcare and Education raised the cash by organising a tombola, name the teddy, guess how many sweets in a jar, a bun sale, nail painting and students were asked to wear blue in return for a donation.

Rebecca CWShine, DVC Childcare Tutor commented:

“This event was suggested by the students, who then prepared and carried it out independently and whole heartedly. I am very proud of their effort which was supported by staff and students and in return has raised money for a worthwhile cause”.
