Student Awards at DVC

Date: 14/06/2011

To coincide with VQ Day on Wednesday 22 June 2011, Dearne Valley College (DVC) will be awarding its outstanding students at its Annual Student Awards Evening 2011.

VQ Day celebrates vocational achievement across the UK and is a celebration of people who gain vocational qualifications. As a successful vocational college this is the ideal opportunity to highlight the college’s strengths.

Over the past few months’ college tutors have been invited to nominate students from academic year 2010/2011 who they believe are worthy winners of the college awards. The awards recognise progress and achievement from all vocational areas of the college.

This year’s awards will be presented by Jonathan Wildgoose, Chairman of Wildgoose Construction Ltd.

Awards will be given out in the various vocational areas and will include cross college awards for: Student of the Year, Adult Achiever of the Year, Apprentice of the Year and Sheffield Hallam University Academic Achiever of the Year.

Paul Townsley, Principal and Chief Executive at Dearne Valley College commented:

“This is a brilliant evening for students, their families and tutors as it celebrates students’ achievements and efforts. Students work really hard to develop their skills at Dearne Valley College; we want to show them that their efforts don’t go unrecognised and just how proud we are of them”.

Approximately 200 invited guests are expected on the evening including: students, parents and guardians, VIPS and sponsors.
