Dearne Valley College (DVC) is pleased to announce its running a level one Diploma in Football Coaching in partnership with Sheffield Wednesday Community Trust.

The course will cover a range of units which prepare the candidates for working in the sport and leisure industry. Completion of the course will also allow progression onto a higher qualification.

Sports kit and Sheffield Wednesday clothing will be provided by the college and students will also become a qualified football coach and sports leader by undertaking the Football Association Award in coaching football and the Community Sports Leaders Award.

Trips will take place to local sport and leisure facilities and junior football clubs. Candidates who do well on the course will also get the chance to undertake a coaching placement at a local junior football club.

The course starts in September 2012 and the college has academy football teams that train and play on Wednesday afternoons for both female and male students who wish to play in matches. As well as playing, refereeing opportunities are also available and participation in boxing, netball, basketball and hockey teams.

Dearne Valley College are now accepting applications for many vocational courses starting September 2012.
