The Sport and Physical Recreation department at Dearne Valley College (DVC) is calling for sports volunteers.
Taking place on Wednesday 18 April, from 12.30pm until 4.00pm, at the Manvers Campus, the sports department in conjunction with South Yorkshire Sport Partnership, are hosting an information event and buffet to encourage people to sign- up. A Sports Ambassador will also be on hand to explain the positive effect that volunteers have had on their career in sport.
Sport Makers encourage people to get involved with sport and is open to everyone aged 16 and over. Becoming a Sport Maker gives you the knowledge, information and connections to get more involved in sport. You will be one of 40,000 like-minded people who are making a difference to the lives of their friends, colleagues or local community across the UK. You will be helping to deliver the official London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games sporting legacy.
By taking part in Sport Makers and completing just 10 hours of sport making, volunteers will be entered into a prize draw to win pairs of tickets to major events at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Sam Meadows, DVC Programme Area Manager for Sport and Physical Recreation, commented:
“This opportunity is great for anyone with a passion for sport. By becoming a volunteer to promote sports to others, this will gain individuals valuable work experience to help them with their future career prospects”.
Triathlon England require volunteers to support the Kids of Steel event taking place at Maltby Leisure Centre, Rotherham on Wednesday 11th July 2012.
