PLANNING A BRIGHT FUTURE

A lucky student from Dearne Valley College (DVC) has won a prize to enhance her future career and employability prospects.

The DVC Sport and Physical Recreation department has chosen Emma Gill (20) from Wath as the winner of training to the value of £4,000, along with work experience and mentorship. Emma has recently completed a Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching.

The prize kindly donated by Envisage, who deliver professional training courses to the health and fitness industry, will now help Emma to receive training to assist with her career aspirations with the possibility of a job with the company at the end of their studies.

The coaching qualifications that Emma will study may include; Certificate in Personal Trainer, Exercise to Music, Exercise and Physical Activity for Children amongst others.

Dave Ireson, Partner from Envisage, commented:
“We continue to have a really good partnership with Dearne Valley College and through this we have grown and developed as a business. By donating this prize its one way we can give something back. Emma will now be able to plan out a career in the health and fitness industry with our help by providing valuable training. Through our contacts in the local area we can also provide work experience and some paid part-time work at DVC Sports. The prize will last for a year and we will mentor her throughout, to help her achieve the career she wants”.

To be considered for the fantastic prize, Emma provided a supporting statement highlighting why she believed she would benefit from this opportunity. Emma was then shortlisted and required to attend an interview for the final selection process.

Sam Meadows, DVC Programme Area Manager for Sport and Physical Recreation, commented:
“We have worked with Envisage for many years now with great results. This fantastic opportunity allows one of our students to plan their future in the health and fitness industry with excellent support and guidance”.

Dearne Valley College are now accepting applications for many vocational courses starting September 2012.
