Her role will be to manage and oversee student disability disclosures, complete initial assessments for all applicants and help students with any additional support whilst learning at college. She will play a vital part in the college’s continued efforts to provide support for students in order to be successful on their chosen courses.

Sue initially worked in admin and retail before returning to study and began a learning journey at DVC in the field of education. Whilst working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Lacewood Primary School in Bolton upon Dearne and then at Greenacre Community Special School in Barnsley, Sue studied to achieve a BA Hons degree and qualified as a NVQ Assessor, supporting Teaching Assistants to gain level 2 and level 3 NVQs.

Sue Fisher, DVC Disability Officer commented: “I want to build on the excellent work of the college teams, motivated by the shared ethos of developing a positive and inclusive learning environment, in which students feel supported, valued and are able to express themselves with confidence”.

Sue also has a sessional lecturer contract teaching adult literacy classes at the college.
