Izabela is 21 and originally from Poland, she came to the UK two years ago.  She now lives in Wath upon Dearne and is attending ESOL classes at Dearne Valley College to improve her spoken language.

“A friend told me about the course and as speaking was my weakness I decided to give it a go. The course has helped me with all my skills, reading, writing, speaking and I’ve learnt a lot about the English culture which has been fascinating. Attending the class has motivated me to go onto higher education and my tutor has encouraged me to apply for a Business Management Degree at Leicester University, which I am looking forward to moving onto in September.

“My tutor Angelika Heyes is really good, she supports and encourages you to do your best. This course has definitely made my life so much easier, learning about the culture of England and other countries has been interesting. I would definitely recommend it to others.

The classes are small, there was only 7 of us from all over the world. Sometimes I find it hard to understand the different accents but I’m learning. I’ve really enjoyed the course and have got a lot from it, university being just one of those things.”
