IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO ENROL AT DEARNE VALLEY COLLEGE

Date: 08/02/2011

DVC has recently enrolled some new students onto level 3 Sport and Physical Recreation courses midway through the academic year.

This latest planning innovation at the Rotherham based college, offers the freedoms for people to infill into existing level 3, full-time groups and study the same as the other students on the course. However, instead of progressing with the rest of their cohort, they will make the transition a term later, having taken advantage of these welcomed flexibilities in the middle of a tradition college year.

The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels which is an excellent alternative for the students who have just decided A levels are not the best pathway for them.

The model opens the college up to a number of potential target groups including those who have made an incorrect choice of education route or provider and wish DVC to be their destination of choice. Part-time workers who wish to enter into career development or for those who have been made redundant and wish to continue with their education before re-entering the labour market. Finally, for those who wish to up-skill but missed the original September start.

Sam Meadows, DVC Programme Area Manager for Sport and Physical Recreation commented:

“By allowing students to start a course mid-way through the year gives someone a second opportunity. By starting at a later point in the academic year potential students don’t have to wait until the next September intake”.

Currently not available for all courses, the college is looking at ways to integrate this entry system into the normal academic year. Business, Administration and Finance is another vocational area that students can infill into.

Anyone interested is asked to contact the college Enquiry Line on T: 01709 513333. Mid-way applications will be accepted up until the end of February 2011.

Dearne Valley College are now accepting applications for courses starting September 2011.
