Dearne Valley College (DVC) is encouraging youngsters to have a go at a new skill.
Places are still available for the Have a Go taster sessions taking place during the February half-term holidays (13th – 17th February 2012), the Wath-based
College is hosting a week of hands-on, interactive, free taster sessions to give local young people a chance to build skills for their future.
The Have a Go event is part of ‘World Skills’ whose aim is to create a million Have A Go opportunities for young people throughout the UK.
Local 15-18 year olds will sample a taste of college life through activity sessions and workshops in many vocational course areas.
Vocational course areas on offer include: Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Construction Skills, Sport and Physical Recreation, Engineering and Technology, Catering and Hospitality, Public Services, Graphic Design and iMedia, Travel and Business.
Mark Hepworth, DVC Assistant Admissions Manager commented:
“Deciding what to do next and indeed where to continue further study can be a difficult decision. Our taster sessions aim to give prospective students an insight into what college life would be like”.
Participants will also meet tutors and support staff, speak to current full-time students and apply on the day for full-time courses starting September 2012.
