Green Flag for New College Motorsports Building ‘PIT63’

Date: 15/10/2013

Brand new building, PIT63 is now open for business at Dearne Valley College’s Manvers Campus. The facility, dedicated to the College’s Motorsports and Automotive students, was launched recently with a helping hand from young race car and Locost Championship driver, Max Lees, who brought along his showpiece vehicle, sponsored by Dearne Valley College.

Principal and CEO of Dearne Valley College, Martin Harrison, gave a speech of thanks to all those involved in the building project including Sheffield-based Project Managers, Bond Bryan, and local building company, George Hurst, before officially ‘cutting the ribbon’ to commemorate the launch. The facility has been designed to reflect a working Automotive workshop, and is kitted out with ramps and other industry-standard equipment, alongside a variety of tools for the students to take advantage of.

Speaking about the event, College Principal and CEO, Martin Harrison, said:

“The launch event was a fantastic way to celebrate the new facility here at Dearne Valley College, as well as our links with businesses in the Automotive industry who have supported us throughout the process, and worked with us to deliver tools and equipment for our courses.

Facilities such as these allow us to nurture the talent of our students in excellent surroundings, from which they can gain the experience required to be successful in the world of work.”
