Pupils will have the opportunity to succeed in Business and IT whilst getting hands-on experience.

Dearne Valley College (DVC) is hosting a taster session focused on Business and IT to give prospective students a chance to build skills for their future.

Taking place on Wednesday 13 April 2011, from 9.30am - 2.30pm at the Manvers Campus youngsters will get the chance to; develop a computer game, create the packaging, advertisement and multi-media marketing strategy for the game. Once developed, participants will present their ideas to a panel of ‘dragons’ to take their concept to market.

Participants will also meet tutors and support staff, speak to current full-time students and apply on the day for full-time courses starting September 2011. Vocational areas on offer will be; Business, Administration and Finance, Computing and ICT.

Mark Hepworth, DVC College Information and Advice Officer commented:

“Deciding what to do next and indeed where to continue further study can be a difficult decision. Our taster session aims to give prospective students an insight into what college life would be like”.

Teaching at the Wath based college is mainly practically based with lectures and demonstrations in modern, fully equipped classrooms.

With strong links with local companies and suppliers, representatives provide regular demonstrations and talks in college.
