DVC Sports is offering 50 lucky youngsters the chance to learn football skills for free.

As part of the On-side Soccer football coaching programme in association with Barnsley Football Club, the free session at the Wath based sports centre will consist of fun games, ball control, effective passing and dribbling, shooting and turning techniques.

For girls and boys aged between 8 and 13 years of age of all abilities, DVC Sports wants to encourage children to take part in structured, fun physical activity which will help to promote healthier lifestyles.

The first session kicks off on Tuesday 11 September 2012 and will be delivered by FA UEFA football coaches from Barnsley Football Club.

Shaun Woodward, DVC Sports Deputy Manager, commented:
“This is an excellent opportunity for children to sample the On-side Soccer football coaching programme in association with Barnsley Football Club. The free session will give children an excellent insight into the programme and assist their football game by developing skills and knowledge of the game whilst learning from experienced coaches”.

There are 50 free places available on a first come, first serve basis and the session will last from 4.30pm until 6.00pm and will take place on the 3G synthetic pitch.

Children will need to wear suitable clothing, rubber studded football boots, shin pads and bring with them a drink. Parents/guardians and children are advised to arrive early to fill in a kid’s club registration form available from DVC Sports before the session.

Prices per week thereafter are £3.70 per session or £17.50 for a six week block membership. During the year there will be regular visits from a Barnsley FC Academy Coach to check on player development and youngsters could be referred to Barnsley Football Club.
