There are a variety of qualifications up for grabs as part of a brand new training programme at Dearne Valley College! Following the launch of a partnership with logistics giant, Langdons, the new programme will aim to train students to work in a vast range of areas within the logistics industry including warehousing, customer service and transportation.
This exclusive opportunity is open to all 16-18 year old candidates, regardless of prior qualifications and experience. Candidates will be considered for this programme based on their personality and enthusiasm, and all young people are urged to apply if they are looking to embark upon a varied career in the industry. Langdons will offer five hard-working candidates the opportunity to progress onto a fully paid, Level 3 Apprenticeship with the logistics company, upon completion of the training programme, with the potential for this to become a full-time position.
The teaching will take place both at the Wath-based College to gain the underpinning knowledge, and at the Langdons depot in Barnsley where students will experience the hands-on, practical aspects of a working logistics depot.
The programme will provide the learners with the opportunity to gain a Level 2 Certificate in Logistics and a Level 2 Award in Customer Services, alongside further qualifications including Fork Lift Truck Driving, Manual Handling, Food & Hygiene Training and Functional Skills qualifications in English and Maths.
Speaking about his own experiences, current Langdon’s Apprentice, Jordan Day said:
“Before joining Langdons, I was unemployed and looking for work. I Joined the Langdons programme because it offered a vast amount of useful qualifications and experience, from Warehousing to Business Administration.”
“Upon completion of the programme, I have been offered a full-time position with them and look forward to furthering my career”.
