Dearne Valley College Students Tackle Money Management with Barclays ‘Money Skills’ Week!

Date: 20/02/2013

From the 25th of February, students at Dearne Valley College will be participating in a week of money themed workshops and tutorials aimed at promoting successful money management and budgeting tips! The financial capability programme is part of a national scheme named Barclays Money Skills ‘week’, which aims to help young people learn how to budget their personal finances effectively. The scheme has been developed by Barclays and the National Skills Academy for Financial Services and aims to reach 150,000 students in 2013. The tutorials tackle issues such as food, fashion and independent living, with a range of activities, games and interactive sessions, and break time competitions which allow the students a chance at winning prizes! The sessions will hope to preach the importance of savvy spending and sensible saving, with sessions such as comparing branded and un-branded food products and creating budget fashion shows. A national enterprise competition also gives the students a chance to win some great prizes, which includes a trip to visit the Barclays centralheadquarters in London!
