Dearne Valley College Launches Offices in Celebration of Adult Learners Week!

Dearne Valley College’s Skills for Work team are launching four new offices throughout the South Yorkshire region, to promote their adult education provision, in celebration of the national ‘Adult Learners Week’ campaign take place on the 18th-24th May!

Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield and Doncaster will all benefit from a local office right on their doorstep, along with the main office at Dearne Valley College’s Manvers Campus.

The ‘Skills For Work’ contract delivers a range of free, short, sector-specific courses, workshops and training sessions for those facing the predicament of unemployment or redundancy, as well as guidance for CV-writing, interview techniques and job searches! The provision is aimed at those aged 19 or over, who are currently living in the South Yorkshire area, and is subsidised by the European Social Fund.

Each of the ‘Skills for Work’ offices will be hosting their own open day during Adult Learners Week to showcase the training and support they can offer to the local community.

The College will also be hosting an employment and training fair at Doncaster Dome on the 23rd May. In collaboration with Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT) and Jobs Centre Plus, the event will feature representatives from recruiting employers across the region, as well as members from the Dearne Valley College ‘Skills for Work’ team.
