Dearne Valley College Commended for Information, Advice and Guidance Services!

Date: 01/05/2013

Dearne Valley College has once again demonstrated their continued commitment to providing high quality ‘Careers and Education Information, Advice and Guidance’ (CEIAG) services, and following a rigorous assessment process, have been awarded the matrix standard.

The matrix report made reference to the College’s ability to provide impartial guidance for prospective students at the pre-entry stage, encouraging them to consider all training providers, educational routes and career paths, and it considered this strength to be exemplary.

The College delivers their CEIAG provision through a number of teams throughout the College, including the Admissions team who deliver the pre-entry and initial information, advice and guidance, while Progress Coaches and Tutors provide support whilst on programme. In-college services such as the DVC Job Zone and Student Services provide further support with careers advice and personal guidance, including counselling and assistance with funding options.

Other noted strengths included the support provided for existing staff in terms of professional development, and the College’s ability to measure the success and effectiveness of its services against its objectives and core values.

Speaking about the accreditation, Principal and Chief Executive of Dearne Valley College, Martin Harrison, said:

“We are proud to announce that as a College, we have been recognised for our excellent practice providing information, advice and guidance to prospective, current and former students, as well as providing this for our staff and the external partners that we work with.”

“We are focussed on ‘Right learner, Right programme, Right level, Right place’, by ensuring that each student is fully equipped to make informed choices about their education and careers.”
