Dearne Valley College Art and Design Show

Date: 27/06/2011

Art and Design students from Dearne Valley College (DVC) have exhibited their artwork at its annual Art and Design Exhibition.

Work on display at the Manvers Campus was contributed from students studying the BTEC Diploma/Subsidiary Diploma Level 3 and the BTEC National Certificate Level 3 (Year 2).

The students follow a broad-based course, learning to experiment and become creative artists. As part of the course the students use and work with various mediums throughout the year including; computer aided design (CAD), textiles, three dimensional design and a range of traditional techniques drawing, painting and mark-making techniques.

Frances Culley, DVC Art and Design Tutor commented:

“All the students have worked really hard throughout the past year. To showcase their work at the college’s annual Art and Design Exhibition is a great way of allowing others to view their creativity and passion for art and design. The students are a real credit to themselves and the college”.

The Art and Design department is appealing for donations of fabrics. Wanted for the start of the new academic year in September 2011, the Wath based college arts department will greatly accept fabrics either old or new of any colour, shape, size and texture.

The fabric will be used by students as part of the printmaking unit that encourages students to experiment with different print techniques and processes to enhance and support their textile work.

Any donations of fabrics can be dropped off at either the Manvers Campus reception or the Rockingham Centre reception.

DVC are still accepting full-time applications for Art and Design courses plus many other vocational courses starting this September 2011.
