The second year students of Dearne Valley College’s Travel and Tourism Management Foundation Degree are hosting an exciting, local event in aid of raising funds to go towards the well-deserved charity, ‘Help For Heroes’.
The organisation and management of the event will be judged as part of the student’s assessment for the course, and they have chosen to dedicate their efforts in the name of raising money to go towards their favourite charity.
The night’s entertainment will include DJ, John Earnshaw who is a popular choice for charity events in the area. The students have also managed to acquire two local singers for the event, with teenager Harvey Finlay and sixth-former Shannon Mclean attending to wow the audience with their vocal talents. Throwing a bit of glamour into the mix, the students have arranged for local fashion retailer ‘Utopia’ to come along and host a fashion show, selling a range of the items on show at a stall, later on in the evening. A young dance troupe from Karen Murillo’s School of Dance will also be impressing guests with their rhythm and routines, to round off the night’s entertainment.
The students have arranged for stalls to be present, selling a range of items including crafts and gifts from Elsecar Heritage Centre, a raffle stall and a ‘sweetie tree’, where guests have the opportunity to estimate the number of sweets on the tree, to be in with a chance of winning one of many fabulous prizes on the evening! Attendees will be treated to a traditional, Yorkshire treat of pie and peas, with a vegetarian option available if requested prior to the event, all included in your ticket price.
Local companies and organisations have also made a contribution to the charity evening with Football tickets for Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, Vouchers for Nandos, Asda and Bowling, a designer women’s perfume set, Bottles of Champagne, and vouchers for the colleges on-site beauty salon, ‘Aspirations’, among the huge range of impressive raffle prizes up for grabs.
The students would like to invite anyone and everyone who would love a great evening, all in the name of raising money for a much-loved charity. Tickets cost £6 per adult and £3 per child (under 12 years), and can be purchased from the Dearne Valley College’s reception, and includes entry, food and an exciting evening of fun!
