Anyone thinking of studying higher education through Dearne Valley College (DVC) should head to the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield for further information, advice and guidance.

The Wath-based College is attending the UCAS Higher Education Convention 2012 at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield on Wednesday 20 June 2012. The free event is open to everyone from 9.30am to 3.00pm.

UCAS organises events across the UK for those thinking about what and where to study in higher education, providing the opportunity to meet representatives from universities and colleges and find out about the courses and options available*.

DVC offers a range of full-time Foundation Degrees (FdA/FdSc) and Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) in, Sports Coaching, Business and Management, Travel and Tourism Management, Business Information Technology, Health and Social Care, and Public Services. These two year programmes can then be ‘topped-up’ into a full Honours Degree at a range of local universities, saving on the costs of moving or travelling away from home.

Andy Parkes, DVC Higher Level Skills Manager, commented:
“Staff will be on hand to offer help and advice about the many higher education programmes on offer. Visitors to the event can find out more about studying a Higher Education programme as well as having the chance to chat to DVC teaching staff and support staff.

Andy Parkes went on to say:
“As soaring tuition fees are hitting the headlines, Dearne Valley College has a ‘study local’ approach that enables students to gain a higher education qualification in the most cost effective way. As a vocational college, the programmes we offer are focussed on sector specific careers in addition to academic studies”.

In addition to lower fees offered by the College, students can also benefit from DVC’s excellent wi-fi enabled campus and facilities, comprehensive student support and further bursaries which may also be available to fund those study essentials.

All first year, full-time students, from September 2012 will receive an iPad to help them with their studies.

Dearne Valley College are now accepting applications for many vocational courses starting September 2012.
