A group of Higher Education students from Dearne Valley College are putting on a free Easter Sports Day aimed at 8-11 year old children, as part of their course!
The Foundation Degree in Sport & Exercise students will be hosting the all-day event on Thursday, 2nd April, 9am until 3pm, at the College’s Manvers campus, with a wide variety of both indoor and outdoor sports activities and games taking place.
Sport student, Grace Wakefield, who is one of the event’s organisers added:
“We aim to promote the importance of participating in sport and fitness to children, and hope that this event will encourage them to choose outdoor activities over their computers and consoles, and to socialise with other children. On our course we have learnt a great deal about the funding that the government has invested into the development of physical education in primary schools, which has inspired our own event.”
The Easter Sports Day is free to all children aged 8-11, and attendees are required to wear suitable sports clothing for both indoor and outdoor activities, and to bring along a packed lunch.
