Christmas Menu at The Griffin DVC

Served every lunchtime, (excluding Wednesday’s) from Monday 28 November to Thursday 15 December 2011. Catering and Hospitality students will prepare, cook and serve a 4-course lunch including coffee for just £16.50 per person.

Using locally sourced, fresh produce the Wath-based students will serve up a Highland themed menu to include delights such as; Highland soup with oatmeal loaf, smoked Scottish fishcakes with a horseradish relish on a bed of mixed baby leaves. Followed by spiced Scottish salmon on a bed of noodles or medallions of venison with port and blackberry jus, for afters choose from Christmas pudding and whiskey sauce amongst other tasty options, finished off with coffee or tea served with mints. Vegetarian options are available.

The Griffin is a working restaurant open to the public, staffed by students on both full and part-time Catering and Hospitality courses in which students gain a realistic working experience.

At the Wath-based College, courses from level 1 to level 3 are delivered in modern, well equipped professional areas that mirror establishments in industry. Students are taught professional cookery and restaurant skills including food and beverage service, silver service and barista training which prepare students to meet the needs of the local catering industry.

The Griffin is also open for evening dinner in the run up to Christmas 2011; 5-courses including coffee are available for just £18.50 per person.
