Beauty Therapy students from Dearne Valley College (DVC) presented a cheque for £167.35 to Breast Cancer Care.

Breast Cancer Care is a UK charity providing patient support, information, online discussion forums and contact details.

Students studying Beauty Therapy Level 3 (electrical) hosted a pink themed fundraising evening to help raise much needed funds for Breast Cancer Care.

On the night, Level 3 students were offering facials, hand and arm massages, nail art and painting, body art, electrical epilation in exchange for donations. On the night many prizes were up for grabs as part of a raffle. Prizes were donated from many local businesses including: Boots (Cortonwood), Tesco (Wath), Angel Cakes of Mexborough, Baron’s Hairdressers amongst others.

The group‘s decision to donate to Breast Cancer Care was a collective decision as members of the group and their families have at some point been affected by breast cancer.

Sonia Hodgson, DVC Beauty Therapy Tutor commented:

“The students worked really well together to put on a very successful event. The students had fun whilst raising the money for a very worthwhile cause”.

Lisa Davis, from Wath a volunteer for Breast Cancer Care collected the cheque.

Dearne Valley College are now accepting applications for many vocational courses starting September 2011.
