Access to Higher Education

Access to HE Diploma: Health Science Professions Level 3

This Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification for those aged 19 and above without traditional qualifications who wish to study health care at university.

The courses is offered on a full-time basis, with a start date of September 2017.

You will learn subject-specific knowledge alongside valuable study skills.

You may also wish to improve your English and Maths skills alongside an Access course too – this can be done at Dearne Valley College.

The course is broken down into 5 overarching subjects:

  • Biology
  • Psychology
  • Social policy
  • Health and study skills

They are taught by subject specialists with qualifications ranging from level 6 to level 8. Although work experience is not a compulsory part of this course, it is an essential component needed in your application to higher education. Having experience in the health, science and social care upon application would be desirable.

However, Dearne Valley College has extensive links with employers which may enable you to gain experience and a further insight into the range of professions available.
