Skills Week
Each year the Hospitality and Catering team celebrate working in the industry with Skills Week. Throughout this action-packed week you will have the opportunity to take part in short courses and presentations delivered by leading industry experts. In the past, courses and presentations have included healthy eating, Italian and Indian food, barista skills plus novelty cake making, fresh pasta workshop and sushi skills.

Additional Qualifications
Depending on the course you are studying, you may also have the opportunity to gain:
• Food Safety
• Barista Skills
• Food Service and Food Preparation
• Customer Service
• Wine Service
• Cocktail Making
• Alcohol Drink Service

It’s imperative that all of our students adhere to Health and Safety regulations in our training kitchen, therefore steel toe cap footwear and full chef’s whites must be worn. A food service uniform is to be worn by serving staff in the restaurant during opening hours.

Knives are not provided, however they are readily available to use from a stock held within our fully equipped kitchen.

How you will be assessed
• Portfolio: You will create a portfolio or workbook of evidence such as practical work, presentations and case studies
• Assignments: You will be given specific assignments or projects to complete
• Practical Work: Your Tutor will assess you completing practical work in the kitchen, restaurant or workplace

• Kitchen Assistant

• Sous or Executive Chef
• Cruise ship Chef
• Restaurant or Café Manager
• Front of House Manager

We offering the following Apprenticeships:

• Food Production and Cooking Level 2
• Front of House Reception Level 2
• Professional Cookery Level 2 & 3
