Work Experience

The Placement Officers co-ordinate work placements for college students.

Placements are an essential component of vocational courses and play a critical role in the development of our students; contributing to decisions about their future career and helping them to gain work experience and possibly employment. A work placement increases a student’s confidence and gives invaluable insight into ‘real’ work situations.

We would greatly appreciate your assistance with this aspect of our work.

The nature of placements varies, from a single day in the workplace, to block placements of up to four weeks. There is no cost to participating employers.

Benefits to your business include:
• Up-to-date specialist skills and technology: Our students participate in courses that cover all the latest skills and technology and may be able to bring fresh ideas to your business.
• Train potential employees up to the standards you expect from your staff.
• Development of recruitment channels: By building links with Dearne Valley College this can help to attract college leavers into jobs and reduce recruitment costs. Who knows a work placement student may be your ideal future employee!
• Vocational Qualifications: Most of our students have chosen specific vocational qualifications, therefore identifying their choice of career.
